I believe he used to play World of Warcraft before I met him, but he said he never really got into it and stopped playing, but he has a friend that still plays it. He also used to play Counter Strike(?), but that was also before we met and not like this. He was banned for about 5 days and that was great because he actually went places with me, did stuff around the house, and wasn’t on the computer all the time.

In the end, you could also remind your husband that he’s missing out on dozens of better games as Aion is eating up all his gaming time and more. Never got to play aion at its peak, heard great things. I would play the living shit out of a classic version of Aion.

Aion Classic or Aion?

If you find someone in the open they’re probably max geared, I mean this was already an issue back 5-7 months ago before dredgion was out, you were fighting people with full 40e+15 and extends. You can easily guess how these people got their gear. It involved a lot of duels on top of places where you could only get if you had certain… How is the server doing at the moment PVP wise?

I also have a dilemma about deciding between Elyos and Asmo side, but im the opposite as you, i played way too much on Elyos side back in the day and while i also played Asmo, it wasnt nearly as much. I was planning to return to Aion but having little bit of difficulty picking where to play. I know a lot of people are playing on EuroAion but I have also read that Aion Classic is coming out for EU. My understanding is that the game is essentially a pay to win mess at this point. No real reason for most people to come back if they want a true classic experience.

Most people already gave you an answer, I would go a different path. Try both classes out if you are a person that can play a Cleric well, like managing groups’ health and keeping them alive, and don’t really struggle to do that, you are a very good cleric that a lot of people want. Submissions should be primarily related to the official Aion Classic servers.

I am winning at life, wanted a challenge in a video game, they refused me. Honestly dont tarnish what good memories you had of this game by replaying it now. Their greedy approach to relaunching the game killed it 2 months in.

P.S i am an Aion fanatic i would love to be here telling you X Y and Z about how to enjoy the game but IMO there has not been a new player in NA that i have met that has lasted longer than 2 months. The systems are simply not designed for new/returning players at this point it is designed for the paying players to pay out of fear of the game being shutdown and them losing everything if they stop paying. Eventually, I got tired of the grind and took some short-long breaks and managed to get my character to 65. I never really did the instances except the ones required so I wasn’t really fully aware of how to upgrade in terms of stats. I played Aion from launch for the first few years. A classic non f2p version could be amazing if done right. It’s absolutely a subscription-based game, they are just offering a free week on launch and a free-to-play trial.

Now I basically have to choose and I am sure I am not the only one, otherwise I would’ve played everything I just listed. BC on june first, PSO2 NGS today, Aion classic june 23rd, SOLO probably in July, New World in August. I’m a casual player and often feel buyer’s remorse with MMO subs because I don’t end up playing often enough to justify the cost in my mind, so I like this. I loved this game when it first came out, got very grindy towards lvl30, so I’m glad they addressed the experience requirements. If the answer is 0 then you will be in for a 2-4 year grind just to catch up(unless you can play hours a week).

They’ve also requested a fair few changes from NCS which NCS need to manage on top of handling all their regions + developing new content both for Revenant and retail. EU release is probably not the main thing on NCS’s table. I’m very positively surprised by GF’s awareness so far, now it remains to be seen how well they execute everything.

MMOs are designed to raise your in-game character’s skills very slowly (it’s like a singleplayer RPG only that any skill-gain speed is reduced by a factor of 100 or more). The process of playing the game in a zombie-like state just to raise skillpoints is called “grinding” and generally a much-hated, but central element to all MMOs. You can’t “beat” the game in any reasonable time and there is always a new goal in the horizon that becomes more desirable the more hours you have to put into getting it. You feel a (real-world sense of) achievement when you get an especially important milestone when reaching a certain skill level for your character or get a very special item. What use is all that success in game, if you can’t share and compare it with anybody else?

Good old time before rng procstones, when you met with the other faction in Abyss on some small “island” to do duels, powerscaling wasnt extremely high and PvP was fun. Would probably be hyped and play it again but get bored pretty quick because it would just be nostalgia hype. The game was really fun, but I would like to see the level scaling be a bit better. The players will destroy the game faster than the problems GF create. You will not have to worry about any of this crap, NA/EU communities already have their AP trading discord set up already so people will have 30 non medal PvP gear the moment they hit 30. Open pvp has been dead since around October, almost everything has been empty since. For the gear, some people at the endgame had 50 Elite PVP Set and just used that for PVE as well. So if you are doing an attack/crit set for templar in PVP you can use that as well for normal monsters / PvE and just switch to Block / TP at the Boss if needed. The only thing I recommend is asking the Party to wait 5-10 sec before attacking, because of the aggro, or the Boss will run around a lot.

I tried to get his account banned permanently, but they don’t do that on request. Don’t ask him to play less; ask him to stop entirely – but only for a week or so. You want to keep playing MMOs when you play them, but you don’t miss them when you stop. If he is really addicted this isn’t likely to help, any more than telling a pot smoker that their drug is a waste of time. It’s more likely to push him further into the “she doesn’t understand me” mindset and drive him into gaming more and talking about it less. I don’t think there’s a magic trick to breaking MMO addiction.
